Sport

Fernhill School prides itself on the breadth of extra-curricular sports opportunities it provides its pupils. There is an extensive programme of clubs which include tennis, hockey, football, fitness, cricket and athletics.

The school competes in all major local authority competitions; this session saw pupils competing in the South Lanarkshire Athletics and Cross-country Championships. The school also organises a number of inter-house competitions during each session, including dodge-ball, netball and cross country. In addition to these events pupils also have the opportunity to compete in the school’s annual sports day and swimming gala.

The school has a strong link with Uddingston Hockey Club and the two organisations have collaborated successfully over the past few years. Pupils spend one afternoon each week receiving coaching from ex international players at Uddingston Hockey Club. The state of the art pitch at Uddingston is one of the best playing surfaces in the country. As a result of this link the school boasts two competitive hockey teams who train and compete against other schools on a weekly basis.

Pupils also participate in our Football Team, Badminton, Netball and Golf.
